we have a place to live! (and other stuff)

This whole having a baby/moving/piling waaay too much onto our plates thing keeps us really busy. I think I use my computer about 1/3 as much as I used to. But since I'm sitting still, and Rhia is asleep, I thought I'd do a nice little update.

We spent all of last weekend in Seattle looking for a place to live that would allow us to keep our dogs--not a small feat in the greater metro area. Most places were ok with dogs under 25 lbs. Our cat almost breaks that weight limit! However, we looked at a house on Saturday in Lynnwood (which is about 12 miles north of Seattle) that was o.k. with our dogs/cats/baby and were willing to rent to us! So today or tomorrow we're going over to sign the lease, and we'll be completely moved in by the end of July! It's a 3 bedroom house with a nice big backyard for the dogs, it's close to the bus stop that goes to UW for Al, it's about 5 minutes off of I-5, so it's super easy to get to, and within walking distance of the Alderwood Mall/everything anyone could ever want (which is just sort of a cool perk--we won't have to drive 30 miles to go shopping/out to eat anymore!). Al has a bit of a commute, but we timed it to UW, and without traffic it's under 20 minutes--plus he'll be taking the bus, so it's a bit quicker than driving, anyways (when there is traffic, anyways). There are a bunch of elementary schools nearby, so I'm sort of parousing for jobs, but still haven't decided if I'm going to work next year or not. The desire to be mama for a year is a bit hard to overcome to look for jobs. Daycare is expensive, and I'm not sure how comfortable I am with my baby being around other people all day. I never thought I'd be the type of person that wanted to stay home with a baby. *sigh*

After we got back from Seattle, Grandma and Grandpa came out to visit because Grandpa hadn't met Rhia yet. It was great to see them, and it was really neat to see Grandpa with her. Today we started packing up some stuff, because next week we leave for Montana for a week (I think we're leaving on the 3rd and getting back on the 12th/13th-ish--it'll take 2 days driving each way with Rhia, I think), and then after that we want to get going on moving our stuff over to Lynnwood, so things have been pretty crazy. I hate moving.

Rhia is doing really well--tomorrow she'll be 4 weeks old already! I can't believe it! She's getting bigger and more alert and smiley. She's already outgrown the pajamas that we bought when we found out that we were having a girl (newborn size) that were actually too big when we brought her home! She's still doing really well at night, usually she'll wake me up 2 or 3 times and that's it, then around 7 or so she wants to be up for the day. Sometimes I'll put her in bed with me and she'll go back to sleep for another hour, but most of the time I just get up with her. She's not super fussy, usually when she gets overtired or hungry, but otherwise pretty good-natured. I'm incredibly grateful for that!
So, a couple of pictures, because I like to show off how cute my daughter is....:-)
