spring

So spring has sprung(ish) in Seattle. The last few days have been beautiful, so Rhia and I have spent a lot of time playing outside and enjoying the sunshine. She loves the swings and the slides at the park, and she's also a big fan of trying to eat the grass. Ahem.

She's getting to be such a big girl. She'll walk holding onto only one of our hands now, and she can cruise around with her little pushing toy like nobody's business. She's stood on her own a few times, and can stand up unsupported for a bit, but she's by no means an expert at it. Yet. If she's not walking by her birthday I think she'll be pretty close. We both think she's shot up in height in the last month or so--she's starting to lose that baby chub look and looks more like a little kid. She acts like a little kid, too, complete with "no" and playing games with us. She does new stuff every day, it's just crazy. She can brush her hair and her teeth now, she "helps" me put my shoes on (and hers), she imitates pictures in books. She says "no," "dada," "mama," and "nana" (banana). I'm getting a big sappy about the fact that she'll be one in a little over a month--where did the last year go?

She has a few more teeth poking through the top, so she's been a bit cranky lately. They seem to have popped through, though, and last night she slept clear through, so I think they're bugging her less than they were. She hasn't gotten any teeth since those first two in January, so it's about time!

Otherwise we're alright. Al is working hard on his Ph.D., I'm trying to find a job for the fall, and once in awhile we try to get out as a family. Rhia and I went to Florida a couple of weeks ago to visit Frank, we had a lot of fun. She loved the waves in the ocean splashing up at her, and she loved swimming in the pool. She even did pretty good on the trips there and back--it was 8 hours each way, so a long haul for a little person.
